Great Training Drill To make Your Team Keep Possession

So, this football training drill is designed to help your team maintain possession and move the ball higher up the pitch.

Training drill Set-Up

  • 6v4 + GK 
  • Blues begin with one player in each end zone & two players in the central zone. 
  • The red team begin with two players in each zone (plus+ a goalkeeper at each end of the pitch)

Description:

  • Reds play 2 + Gk v 1 in the end zone, & try to advance the ball through the zones & back. 
  • The red team must remain in their zones except for one defender who can step into the central zone from the end zone where the ball is being played. 
  • One of the blue midfield players can decide to help the striker press the ball by stepping into the end zone to make it 2+Gk v 2.

Black line = Direction of the ball

Black dotted line = Dribbling the ball
