Attacking Training Drills

Coaching Xtra

Players have to constantly evaluate tactical situations on the field so that they can make the best decisions as to what they are going to do, such as:

  • Dribble or pass
  • Type of pass
  • When to counter-attack
  • Type of run (on and off the ball)

Organised Attacks and attacking with overloads provide a team an opportunity to create goal scoring opportunities. In the case of attacking the goal with overloads, a team can take advantage of a numerical superiority. This is the time when the opposition may be disorganised and or they are at their most vulnerable.

The following drills are designed to help players make good decisions when attacking.
