Numbers Overload Game

SET UP:

Using one half of the pitch with a goal at either end, also place a pole in each corner of the playing area. There are two teams of 8v8.

DESCRIPTION:

Normal game but when the coach shouts a number, that player must run around one of the poles, in the opposition’s half, before rejoining the game.

Normally I like to shout out two numbers, from the same team, to really emphasise the numerical advantage and create that desire for the team in possession to commit 100% in attacking quickly, before the opposition regain their players and organisation.

KEY DEVELOPING ASPECTS:

  • Quick decision making
  • Confidence to take risks
